Iran has not sent any new message to the United States but continues to seek the removal of sanctions, said Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

“No new message has been conveyed to the United States; however, it is clear that Iran has consistently pursued the lifting of sanctions,” Larijani wrote in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday.

He added that all of the government’s diplomatic efforts are aimed at ending the sanctions, saying, “Can anyone claim that we desire sanctions?”

Larijani said there was no need for fresh communication with Washington since “previous negotiations had already taken place, and the other side showed no willingness to reach an agreement.”

Iran and the US held five rounds of nuclear talks earlier this year before the US and Israel launched a 12-day campaign of aerial aggression against the Islamic Republic, derailing diplomacy on the eve of a planned sixth round.
